Why pay an outrageous amount of money for a ridiculous cable package when you can get everything you need (and more) for $9 a month on Netflix? You can stream movies and full seasons of your favorite shows to your television through your Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox, and many other devices. You could also just stream to your computer screen and watch them there. Also included is unlimited DVD rentals (one at a time–or you can upgrade to get more DVD’s at one time), as not all movies and shows are always available for instant streaming.
You may be asking,”What about current shows, how can I watch those if I cancel my cable and they aren’t on Netflix?” Step one–realize that you may have to wait until the show comes out on DVD, but you’re saving a bunch of money, so it’s cool! Step two–go to Hulu to watch most of the current episodes airing on television now (for free–or you can upgrade for $7.99 so that you can stream to your television).
We save about $60 a month by using Netflix and Hulu instead of cable, and I think we get a lot more bang for our buck this way. You should make your own decision though, so go check it out and then maybe you can cancel your cable subscription too—and save some dough!!

That’s some good, sound advice. I never tried it, but I hear everyone rave about the service. I’m a YouTube man, myself. Bad quality, as compared to a DVD, but it’ll suffice. I stopped watching TV when I was a teen (decades ago), and had a tube-type TV in the basement that I tried to dump for so long. Finally got rid of it without anyone in the house complaining, because TV is digital now (don’t mention the analog to digital converter!). I might look into the streaming to computer…
@Scott–I watch stuff on Youtube as well, but your right, the quality has much to be needed. It’s funny, said you had a tv in the basement you finally got rid of, I got rid of that one too! We still only have the tv in our family room that is about 10 years old, but digital. I got rid of all our other tv’s last year, as we didn’t need them or use them. Thanks Scott.

I’m sorry I can’t do the streaming stuff. Sometimes the quality isn’t good,Netflix has a bunch of old crappy movies, and I don’t need the DVD because Direc Tv gets movies before Netflix. Also what if you have more than one plasma or LED tv that means I have to use up a lot of bandwidth for the streaming. You don’t even mention sports. What I have to watch sports on my pc or hook it up to my LED tv? Lol that’s a joke. So if Internet cost between 30 to 50 bucks plus subscriptions to Hulu and Netflix is 8 bucks or more, doesn’t that kinda defeat the purpose?
I agree about the sports dilemna, but you can’t really count the internet costs, as we would have that whether or not we have netflix or hulu. thanks for your comment.
